BPIS Can/Am Ch. Ringmaster Xceptional

'Rubik'
BPIS Can/Am Ch. Ringmaster Xceptional (Rubik) was born in South Africa on 26 May 2004.

He was imported directly from South Africa to Canada from Huntly Pringle of Ringmaster Staffords.

Rubik was our second male and his quality and conformation was evident from the beginning. When he arrived there was something about him that caught the eye and it was when we took a tape measure and discovered that his height, length and circumference of head measurements were all equal. It was fitting that he should be named after a cube.

He arrived in Canada with his brother Arthur and although there was little to choose from when looking at both dogs our decision to keep Rubik was made on his sensitive manner.

He was very sensitive to being reprimanded and needed to be treated gently, something that is still apparent today.

After his first appearance in November 2004, Rubik did not appear again until May 2005.

It was at Burns Lake in May 2005 that Rubik attained his Canadian Championship and was awarded Best Puppy In Show under All Breed Judge Neil Graves.

Once again Rubik was to take a break attending only two more shows in 2005.

In 2006 Rubik was back in the show ring appearing at selective events.

He started his 2006 show year at Calgary in February and began the year on a high with a Group 3 placing under American Judge Anne Katona. Rubik was appearing alongside his daughter, Wimaru's Hand Picked (Choice), following in her fathers footsteps by starting her championship campaign on the day she turned six months and was awarded Best Puppy In Group.

His next show was at Red Deer in April where he took Best Of Breed and a Group 4 placing under International Judge Doreen Powell of South Africa.
Rubik was then sent to Ashash Jivan (A.J.) of Red Rocks Staffords in Colorado to obtain his American Championship.

It was agreed that he would be there for six months and we would then assess him. It was a surprise to receive a phone call after three weekends of showing to be told that he was ready to come home. Rubik had attained his American Championship in just six appearances and all with 3 point major wins.

In January of 2010 he decided that he would like to take a road trip, well, it was a joint decision. We made a journey to San Francisco, California to attend the Cow Palace benched show.

A few phone calls were made and it turned out to be quite the event. Friends, old and new, traveled from all over the US to make the event a memorable one. It was more than a dog show, it was a social gathering of like minded individuals with a common interest. I will remember the experience for the rest of my life.

Oh! And Rubik took Best Of Breed on Sunday 31 January 2010.

Rubik made his first appearance the day he turned six months old at Calgary on 26 November 2004. It was the first time that I would be working exclusively with my own dog.

He was a little nervous with his surroundings but Sheena Melone of Littlefeat Miniature Pinschers, noticed the anxiety in both Rubik and myself and took some time to help us both relax.

The entry was four males and one female, of which all were Canadian Champions except Rubik, who was appearing for the first time in the Junior Puppy Male class.

It was to be one of the most unexpected and memorable events that we have experienced together.

Rubik was awarded Best Of Breed under All Breed Judge Ann Hennigan.

He then appeared at Edmonton in June. This was the venue of the second booster attended by Wimaru Staffords and Rubik's first attendance where he was awarded Best Of Breed.

It was also the first event for the Alberta Terrier Breeders Association Specialty and Rubik, from an entry of seventeen Staffords, was awarded Best Of Breed under Terrier Breeder Judge Judy McVeigh.

Rubik's next and final show for 2006 was at Cranbrook in August. It was an outdoor event and the weather was perfect.

It was under International Judge, Greg Eva of Capetown, South Africa that Rubik took a Group 2 and his third Best Of Breed award for the weekend.
